HECTOR ARGUELLES currently works in the professional sports sector, as Vice President of Digital Partnerships for the NBA (National Basketball Association). His department is responsible for commercializing the NBA content rights around the world. Hector focuses on managing the digital aspects of the NBA’s international media partners e.g. ESPN, Rakuten, Tencent, Movistar, Sky, Vivo. Prior to his current role, he was responsible for International NBA League Pass, the League’s direct-to-consumer online video service. Before moving to the US, he spent six years in Germany working in software development and product management for Siemens and Nokia.
Hector has been a volunteer for the Olympic Movement since attending the IOA (International Olympic Academy) for the first time in 2002, including volunteer positions at Olympic Games, Mediterranean Games and Asian Games. He has worked closely with the IOA in various capacities, on multiple occasions as session coordinator, lecturer and also as President of the IOAPA (IOA Participants’ Association) between 2007 and 2013. Hector also served two terms as a board member of the International Pierre De Coubertin Committee (2010-2018).
In terms of educational background, he holds a BSc in Computer Engineering from his hometown’s Universidad de Oviedo (Spain) and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth (USA). Hector currently resides in NYC.
